1. Opening a presentation
- Welcome your audience
- Introduce yourself
- Say what your topic is
- Explain why your topic is relevant for your audience
How to attract audience's attention at the beginning of the presentation
- Ask a rhetorical question
- Start with an interesting fact
- Tell them a story or anecdote
- Give them a problem to think about
2. Body of the presentation
- Use simple language
- Focus on most important information and don’t give the audience too much information. You can limit your presentation to three main ideas
- Check your pronunciation and learn how to pronounce words you don’t know. It is better to find easier synonyms for them unless they are technical
- Use body language
- Walk around and don’t sit or stand in one place
- Use visuals (graphs, photos, power point slides). But don’t depend completely on them. try to limit your looking at the screen and have direct eye contact with the audience
3. Conclusion
- Signal the end of your talk
- Summarize the key points
- Highlight one important point
- Explain the significance
- Make your final statement
- Invite questions
