Karen's Workshop in Wusta about "Engaging Learners Through Puppetry"

On Monday, 10-10-2016, the international trainer - Karen Konnerth - presented a workshop for teachers of Cycle 1 in Duqum Training centre. The title of the workshop is: Engaging Learners Through Puppetry". She started the workshop by giving the trainees an idea about the art of puppetry and how teachers can make use of it to facilitate teaching stories and different situations using puppets or shadow. Then, she introduces some samples of puppets from different countries around the world that she visited to present such workshops. After that, teachers were asked to write their own stories, make their own puppets and tell their stories using their puppets on a shadow screen. The other trainees were asked to comment on every story and give feedback. Next, the trainer showed the trainees different simple ways to make puppets using simple materials. The teachers were so motivated and involved. In fact, we discovered that we have some female teachers who are wonderful puppeteers. Finally, one of the teachers gave a word of thanking to the trainer. We hope that teachers will try to apply what they learnt from this workshop in their classes to help their students acquire the language and use it in different life situations
