workshop on teaching stories in Ibra

On the 9th of October 2016 in the exploration Centre Hall , a workshop on teaching stories was presented by Jowliet Cowly the educational expert within RELS 2016. This workshop was attended by about 30 cycle one teachers and 4 supervisors. The presenter started the first session with a fun warm up activity that was aimed to get groups' members to know each other better.

Then 2 sets of every story from 3 different big book stories written by Omani teachers were distributed among the 6 groups. The presented gave specific instructions to teachers to read stories and make differentiated activities that suits 3 or 4 cognitive students levels. Then storytelling was done and related activities for the stories were explained and applied with groups. In the second session the teachers were asked to design other activities with differentiation

Finally the presenter discussed how can such storytelling session be integrated within the current currciullum being taught in schools now.
